Capterio presents at the World Energies Summit on ensuring competitiveness of new producers

Our CEO, Dr Mark Davis, had the great pleasure of presenting last week at the world’s premier upstream oil and gas conference, World Energies Summit. Thank you to Gayle Meikle from Frontier for the invitation.

Our panel focussed on the question: “Emerging Producers: License to Drill or Stranded Asset?”, a topic very much in focus for new producing countries including Namibia, Surinam, Liberia and more.

Given that the demand outlook is uncertain (it’s not clear when oil and gas demand will decline, although it could be sooner than we think), Mark talked about the great importance to (a) consider the macro outlook context/demand, (b) ensure we learn to “do things right first time” to avoid the “resource curse”, and this could/should for example be at least net zero scope 1 & 2, i.e. zero flaring/methane, electrify ops) to ensure competitiveness, and (c) importance of strong institutions/regulation etc.

Exciting opportunities lie ahead. Big thank you to Gayle Meikle, Willem Bloem, Vandana Gangaram Panday, Fabian Michael and Travis Smithard.
