Capterio identifies $400m of opportunities to reduce flaring at LNG plants worldwide

Today, Capterio’s CEO (Dr Mark Davis) presented a flagship paper on the opportunities to capture value from flared gas at the world’s 162+ LNG liquefaction plants worldwide.

Mark’s paper (together with co-author and colleague Alex Ostridge) at the prestigious energy conference ADIPEC (in Abu Dhabi, a meeting of over 200,000 energy leaders) outlined the $400+ million dollar revenue opportunity to reduce gas flaring by (i) improving start-up, (ii) improving daily operations (reducing “upset” flaring) and (iii) reducing “routine” flaring by investing in “boil-off” gas recovery.

The paper highlighted how the very best LNG plants have a flaring intensity (flaring per unit of exported LNG) that is 100x lower than those with the most opportunity for improvement.

We are delighted that – because of its significance to producers, operators, regulator and importers, the SPE has agreed to make our paper Open Access and will be available at this link shortly.

Thank you to the panel chairs Mr M Elshaly (Kuwait Energy) and Mr R Musleh (Canadian Ministry of Trade) and my fellow panelists Ms N Al Waily (PDO) and Mr A Hassan (Abou-Sayed Waste Management). The slides can be made available on request (please email). Thank you to the SPE and the ADIPEC committee for the opportunity to present on this topic.
