Capterio CEO presents at NAPEC on the flaring ‘opportunity’ in North Africa

Mark Davis presented at The North Africa Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (NAPEC) on behalf of Capterio and SYSTEMIQ. His presentation, delivered as part of the Strategic Sessions, highlighted the opportunity to convert more than 450 gas flares across Northern Africa into an additional 1.4 BCF (15 BCM) per day of gas. The US $3 billion per year regional opportunity would improve exports, revenue and reduce CO2 (opportunity calculated based on a $6/mmbtu gas price).

Countries like Algeria and Egypt have the opportunity to deploy proven, fit for purpose technologies in combination with new operating models to tap into this opportunity. However, there is a critical need to establish the right partnerships across stakeholders who can help align incentives (across pricing, royalties, tax and entitlement to gas and liquids) to realise this potential.

During the conference the Capterio team met with representatives from all the major oil and gas companies in Algeria and several from the broader region. Renewed commitment from international oil and gas companies, alongside new commitments from local operators and governments has raised the priority for flare abatement across the region.

NAPEC is the largest oil and gas exhibition & conference in Africa focusing on the north Africa Market, dedicated to the Upstream, Midstream and Downstream activities. It is the place to develop, grow and meet the oil & gas professionals coming from all over the world, governments representatives, shareholders and service & technology providers to do business in the hydrocarbons and energy sector in North Africa region.
